In sewing, piping is a type of trim or embellishment consisting of a strip of folded fabric inserted into a seam to define the edges or style lines of a garment or other textile object. It may be made from either self-fabric (the same fabric as the object to be ornamented) or contrasting fabric, or of leather.[1] Today, piping is common on upholstery and decorative pillows, but it is also used on clothing. | The shell jacket became regulation for the US army in 1833, replacing the Napoleonic-era blue tail coat. Infantry jackets were sky blue with white piping and silver buttons. Cavalry uniforms were navy blue with orange (later yellow) piping and artillery uniforms were identical but with red piping; they had brass rather than silver buttons. Да, должен признать правоту оппонентов. У cavalry есть значение "диагональ"... Речь не о цвете, получается, а все-таки о материале. |
