Using the energy-saving LED lamps and automatic twilight switch (in “AUTO” mode) the maximum effect of lighting and energy saving is reached. Twilight switch turns on the light depending on the ambient light. Using the twilight switch it is possible to adjust the light intensity depending on the brightness of the outdoor light. The built-on automatic control maintains a specified lighting level depending on the change of outdoor light intensity and adjusts smoothly a specified lighting level. Use of the automatic twilight switch helps to save energy. |

Guts Tonya, вы наверное, из Крыма? Там сейчас очень нужны энергосберегающие системы.) По теме. Нет слова включатель, а есть вЫключатель. Хотя, для сей писанины и так сойдет. |

'Twilight switch' is a literal translation of 'сумеречный включатель' -- but I've never heard of it in English. I would use 'light sensor switch', which is a less literal translation, but is what the author is talking about here, and will be instantly understood by an English speaker. |

mol_67, к счастью, я не из Крыма). Товарищи, я знаю, что оригинал корявый, я не прошу вас его исправлять, меня интересует как перевести этот корявый оригинал, чтобы он более менее был понятен на английском))) всем спасибо за советы и ответы! |

I've just looked on Amazon. There are 4,700 twilight switches/twilight sensor switches/twilight photoelectric switches. So you're right. Ignore my comment. |
johnstephenson, позвольте спросить, какой у вас родной язык? Русский не родной? Не билингвал? |

trtrtr -- I'm British, so my native language is English. I have a good knowledge of Russian, but not to native level. Therefore I only translate from Russian to English. I'm a semi-retired translator-terminologist and translation quality-checker. |

And you? |
that's what we desperately need here. a translation quality checker. a bit of overzealous attention to detail if you know what i mean :)) anyhow, prepare to get amused and welcome to the jungle, John. |
\\\ that's what we desperately need here. отучаемся говорить за всех (с) ;)) увы и ах, но спрос на качество и стандарты в среднем по больнице нынче ниже плинтуса. |

Wolverin -- Thank you. 'Perfectionists Anonymous'! wow2 -- I'm just here to offer a few ideas, which will often be wrong. Whether the askers (is there a better word for this in English?) take any notice is up to them, as I see it. After all, they're doing the work .... |

Alky -- Terminologist = someone who compiles lists of specialised terms, particularly abbreviations, together with their expansions (if known) and/or the context(s) they're used in and/or a translation into English. James Hadley Chase -- I've no idea, but you obviously do, so why are you asking me? Ah, you're trying to test me.... |
\\\ ... the askers (is there a better word for this in English?) .... in prior art [known to me], "askers" have been referred to as "topic starters" or "original posters" (OPs) the "asker" seems to be a term coined by this group; a number of people commented to have never encountered the word anywhere outside of this forum. the invention is not entirely unwarranted though, as the majority of OPs here has been behaviorally closer to beggars. so at some point i, too, figured i'd get on with the program ;) |

wow2: I see! Yet again we find that English doesn't have a simple word for something other languages probably do have one for. Oh well, 'askers' it is, then.... |
right! English should borrow исконно русское "аскер" =)) |

wow2: Would I be right in thinking you're North American rather than British? -- because you said "outside OF this forum" rather than just "outside this forum".... |
kinda ... i'm Runglish ;) the AmE part is still correct though |
*Terminologist = someone who compiles lists of specialised terms, particularly abbreviations, together with their expansions (if known) and/or the context(s) they're used in and/or a translation into English.* Are we talking intelligence here? *because you said "outside OF this forum" rather than just "outside this forum"....* Looks like we are. Analytic part of it. |
