A swipe card is a plastic card with a magnetic strip on it which contains information that can be read or transferred by passing the card through a special machine. They use a swipe card to go in and out of their offices. CCB Alexander Demidov); proximity card (A proximity card or prox card is a smart card which can be "read" without inserting it into a reader device, as required by earlier magnetic stripe cards such as credit cards. To use, the proximity card is held near an electronic reader unit for a moment.
