Subject: OFF: services OK, as I have gotten (especially lately) quite a few requests from people here on the forum to help them with translations (editing) and have been doing it for free, I finally decided maybe I should start getting paid for this.Does anyone here know of agencies who work with freelance editors and would need a native speaker (who would only be available on a part-time basis)? |
As I know, this forum was specially created to help people FREE. So i think that's rather strange to ask here such kind of questions... |
kvitka right, and i help the people on the forum for FREE all the time. What I am asking (and you did not understand) IS: does anyone here know a translation agency or other place which is currently looking for Native English speaking editors? I hope the question is more clear now. oljaz side note: free work for all you lovelies here on the forum i enjoy and will continue to enjoy doing. (just was thinking that maybe i should get paid (not from you guys) for it occasionally so i can buy the kid some silly toy or something :)) |
Dear Nina, I realise that this is VERY American. :-) Hope you are not going to charge people here? :-) As this may hit you back in your Russian. :-) |
Kate, do people here not understand the question still? I REPEAT THE QUESTION: DO YOU KNOW OF AN AGENCY LOOKING FOR NATIVE ENGLISH EDITORS?????? |
Nina79, many agencies are hiring native speakers (imho native speakers are ... well, slightly overappreciated :) go to http://headhunter.ru and search for editor and/or translator. |
JUSTBORIS: THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING THE QUESTION AND FOR THE LINK :) |
Nina, try to browse through www.hh.ru. I'm not sure about translation agencies but, obviously, there will be some job offers from firms and companies. |
Nina, why not just send your CV to some of the translation agencies? |
Nina, i think i have a freelance for you (urgent), dunna about money yet, r u interested? |
For NINA79 I've just browsed through the HH and can tell you there are some good job offers that can fit you. |
i mean they said they will pay well (a PR agency), but it's urgent. if u need it, then just give me your contacts here or in a private thread, OK? |
Nina79 Could you please send your CV to seberyag@gmail.com (I wouldn't like to publish our office e-mail here). Sometimes we need native speakers to edit some stuff. It's not very often unfortunately but anyway. |
Себеряк check you mail suslik Redni |
Nina, could you leave here some of your personal information which is not of big importance for you, no big deal for you if exposed publicly, but we could somehow contact you? |
gogolesque@mail.ru M 8 916 661 17 28 H 495 191 69 48 (better to call here after 8 pm as I am at the Bank all day) what else? ICQ 254 919 673 (gogolesque) MailAgent gogolesque that should be good enough :) |
Susan, i replied |
Nina, Why mentioning your editing here? moreover stressing that you were doing this for free? I remember people from here doing huge texts for you really FOR FREE. Have they ever told you they were doing your work (which was WORK!) for free? And I am hearing all this crap after defending you here?! >quite a few requests from people here on the forum to help them with translations (editing) and have been doing it for free. P.S. To spare any misunderstanding here, I have never asked Nina to edit my texts. |
Freudian slips:) |
ket the point was not to say "hey, you jerks! i am doing stuff for you for free." the point WAS, if people are coming to me for this, it must mean that they trust my opinion and my skills, which means that this is a skill i should start marketing. i think you really misunderstood my post and that is really unfortunate. |
Nina, but it looked like that (normally I understand what people are telling me even in English ;-)!!! Pls. be more diplomatic... You know that it is not a problem to find such a job (and I told you all that). Simply take a list of agencies and call them. Hope this is all over. Shaking your hand. |
Hello, please specify to what email address I could send you a message? |
Gee... Happy to see you're all ok. |
Монги, hope u 2 |
tumanov e-mail is above but, here you go anyhow gogolesque@mail.ru |
Nina, please, why are you always justifying yourself and make excuses?? The person obviously nagged at you and was nit-picking. And you are explaining her something!!! I could understand if Kat offered something concerning this request about agencies or if you edited HER texts... But to write post only to point at your being not very diplomatic (several times, after your double and triple explanations) and her being not very diplomatic herself... it's strange of you to react... |
galatea i just don't like to accidentally offend people. I don't like to offend people really, at all. so when they get offended i feel the need to expalin, explain, explain until things are cleared up .... maybe it is a personality flaw of mine (or maybe it is a good thing). who knows. that's just me. but thanks for the support (and glad you understood the post:)) |
alk :))) i hope it does. becasue that's what i wanted to say. only without the translating part, really. |
