| умиление is the emotional reaction to someting moving, touching (in figurative sence :o)). Like cute baby, for example. I'm sure there is some fansy English word for it. |

Sky, that's exactly the problem -- there is NO English word to word translation for the bloody thing! (pardon my French) Kinsman: I should buy you a drink for trying so hard! Thank you. Original translation: 'tears of love'. I'm not happy with that. Я могу умиляться Вашему желанию мне помочь, но мне не обязательно Вас любить. |

Alexis aka Althea: you have clearly done some research, thank you very much; unfortunately, there is one little 'but': all the existing translations (including the ones you've quoted) of the Captain Daughter are, to be honest, quite rubbish. I'm proofreading yet another -- and, hopefully, much better -- translation that will be out soon. But thank you, anyway!.. Kintorov: yes, I see what you mean! Thank you very much.
