"In order to improve the wave forecast technique so as to enhance the safety of marine navigation and waterfront recreational activity and to mitigate the coastal disaster in APEC region, a series of workshops on ocean model (WOM) has been held by APEC/MRC/OMISAR in the past years. According to the conclusion of WOM-6, which was held on September 11-13, 2001 in Beijing , China , one of the main goals of this workshop is to improve the wave forecasts by sharing the experiences in operational wave model forecasting among APEC member economies. Wave modelers, both operational and research modelers, are welcome to present their model results in the workshop."

"The objective of this Workshop is to share experience of APEC member countries in development and application of computer models for hydrodynamics, water quality and ecological simulation in coastal and ocean environments. The suggested topics include modelling fundamentals, upstream research, examples of application, models verification and coupling, and data assismilation."
