Trim Air Control
The trim air valve (depending on acid gas feed rate) is initially adjusted manually to fine-tune the airflow to the Reaction Furnace combustion chamber. The trim air valve is sized for 10% of the main airflow and provides finer adjustment of the total air flow. When the Claus stage tail gas analyzer, AIC-4248 (or AIC-4448), is operating reliably and showing an H2S/SO2 ratio of 2:1 with the trim valve in the control range, switch the trim air controller, FIC-4112 (or FIC-4312), over to automatic control.
