Как переводчик, я занимаюсь постоянным поиском новых клиентов, перспектив, и возможностей по расширению сферы своей компетенции (обязанностей, задач)???
Непонятно:
1) почему этим должен заниматься переводчик
2) что имеется в виду под my range of topics (может перечень тематик (тематических направлений)перевода?)

thanks to all of you!

FYI
i am writing a business proposal for Russian to English translations but assume the proposal should be not only in English.

good lord, you know, could i just pay one of you to translate the bloody thing into russian when i have it finished in English?
It might be better than looking like an idiot in my russian which will make people think i dont understand the language and couldnt do a simple translation if i had to.
any proposals?

Зачем запятая после "как переводчик"? Не надо!

Жуткий буквализм, однако... )))

Nina, what do you think about beginners? I know a person (not me) who will be interested in trying to translate your text.

I wish that i could express myself the way you do in English.
Please, don't get upset with your Russian, it is much better that the English of the majority of us (mostly speaking for myself, here)

I think I would rather it not be a beginner. No offense, but since my career could hinge on this a bit, I am going to be pretty wary about the text that is going to appear before the eyes of prospective clients.

GFAW! my English is only so much better b/c it is native. And if I dont get down on my Russian I will never do much about it... reading, listening, comprehending, speaking - can do. writing - ugh! i get myself into a state of frenzy and cant think and cant write. and it usually sounds like a 5 year old or is full of mistakes b/c i was hurrying. cant take such chances with this text

performance anxiety (especially when it comes to languages) is a real pisser, isn't it?

 marlene

link 5.10.2006 12:54
The problem is Russian is much harder to learn because of all the cases and a variety of endings. Thank you, native speakers of English, that you got rid of all this!

actually russian is not so hard becasue of the endings. the systematic approach actually makes it easier in my opinion.

for exapmple, when i was learing German, that was so nice. such a system. barely any retarded exceptions. i loved it.

the lack of rules and abundance of insanity in English is what i think makes it one of the hardest languages in teh world
