The soil in the vicinity of the site area is of a variable condition. Between approximately ground level and 1.2m the soil is broadly of medium dense grey silty sand and stiff sandy silt containing shells. At between 1.2m to 2.5m there is generally a very soft slightly sandy silt layer with shells, containing organic material. Below this down to 3.0m there is a layer of medium dense silt with fine to medium sand.
