Затрудняюсь с точным и подходящим значением слова clearing в следующих четырех случаях :)

1) Harry, whose cheeks glow with the only sign of life throbbing through the clearing.

2) Harry listens to the wingbeats of time through the clearing, the rustling of leaves that is the only indication that minutes are flapping by.

3) Here it is a swallow that rounds the clearing in a flutter of movement and echoes before diving into the earth.

4) The clearing is so silent Harry thinks his heart has forgotten to beat, or perhaps it has abandoned him to warm the hands of its keeper below in the dirt.
