Leonard Cohen, the living legend, he is what, more than 70 yrs old, slouched, skinny, kind of frail, but his voice is still ok, hoarse, rich and soft, he was supposed to be nominated for the Nobel Prize last year, did not work out for some reasons, he now released his knew book Book of Longing, probably some of you can translate it into Russian, mostly poems, btw he sang with Barenaked Lady, just three songs, So Long Marianne, awesome,Leonard, dance to me the end of love... |

По поводу всей этой истории у нас (в Манитобе) в прессе была объявлена кампания: все дружно идем и покупаем диски любимого певца, чтобы поддержать его в трудную минуту. hey, Dakota: what I can say, it was a promotion small event outside the Indigo book store, in downtown, he actually was promoting his partner's CD, her name is Anjani Thomas, a lady from Hawaii, plus his new book, and it has become the bestseller #1 in Canada, they had presigned copies, thirty bucks, to fly from manitoba to toronto for this event -- I don't think it's a good idea, the whole thing lasted 1 hour, he sang only three songs with Anjani and the group, so far I have not seen him performing in any shows, I believe he is slowly retiring, but he has released couple of new CD 2-3 yrs ago, I am simply very happy I saw him, I remember listening his song when I was 17, and was a very long time ago, there is another singer coming on July 13, Tom Jones, I saw him once couple of yrs ago, the tickets were expensive, ie 120 bucks the best seats, Pavarotti --- on June 6, in three weeks and do not worry for leonard, he is an extremely loaded man, he came from a very rich family |

Тот диск, кот. он выпустил последним, я, честно говоря, слушать не могу при всем моем глубоком уважении к Лео. 1 час вместе с презентацией книги и раздачей автографов - не фонтан, конечно, но в своем городе я бы, несомненно, на мероприятие сходила. На счет его бедности/богатства я не очень беспокоюсь, но не думаю, что у него что-то осталось из былых семейных денег. |
