Our experience includes defending two of the largest Alien Tort Statute matters brought in the US. We have defended a major UK-based bank in putative class actions alleging that the company aided and abetted apartheid in South Africa. We also have experience in defending one of Canada’s largest independent energy producers in a putative class action alleging complicity in genocide and other human rights violations arising from its former indirect interest in a Sudan-based oil exploration and production company.
