Wikiwords.org public beta

We are proud to announce Wikiwords.org, a new project to create an open, multilingual lexicon of all terms in all languages.

Sound ambitious? It is. But if anyone can lead this project, ProZ.com--the world's leading community of professional translators--can. After all, we have already created an archive of over a million KudoZ terms, which as far as we know, represents the largest member-built glossary in existence. Add to that the three million or so personal glossary entries ProZ.com translators have uploaded over the past five years, and it is clear that our collaborative community is capable of producing impressive results.

Now, we are setting out to take a step up to a new level and to broaden our community. We seek to build something truly great for everyone in the world who loves language.

If you would like to help build a term resource that is easy-to-use, free, and open to all (whether you are a ProZ.com member or not), we invite you to join with other translators and language enthusiasts here in building Wikiwords.

Today marks the first day that Wikiwords is available to the general public. Please come in and look around. Enter some terms. Do some translations. Import your ProZ.com glossaries.

You can enter and view the site without registering. To contribute, you just need a username and password. If you are a ProZ.com user, simple use your ProZ.com username and password. If you are not a ProZ.com member, please create a new account from the following page.

Remember: Wikiwords is in beta, so we await your suggested improvements. Also, please be sure to pass along news of the new project to anyone you know who would be interested. Only by working together can we make Wikiwords a reality.
