Subject: kick into touch
Речь идет о регби. Контекст вот такой:

When the ball’s not stuck in the fucking scrum, they’re kicking it into touch.

Подскажите, плз, кто чем может.

Спасибо заранее :)

scrum = scrimmage, драка за мяч
into touch - мяч в игре

блин... я ничего про регби не знаю.. в тексте вот так: ‘Oh yes,’ said the planning officer, ‘Tell you the truth Ken, I can’t stand the fucking game. When the ball’s not stuck in the fucking scrum, they’re kicking it into touch. Give me the ice hockey any day. You been down there, see the Devils, Ken?’

спасибо :)

they’re kicking it into touch - the team was kicking the ball forward, but intentionally over the touch line (side line) to gain some space and move forward in hope of getting a turnover after the lineout.

I have no idea how to translate this into Russsian, but if you have any further questions - don't hesitate to ask.

basicly, my namesake is complaining here about the often considered boring helter-skelter way of playing rugby when teams kick the ball back and forth instead of trying to gain some ground by passing and running with the ball forward in attempt to score a try
