"Children as young as" doensn't mean children who are exactly 5 years old. It means that 5 is the minimum. So for example "Children as young as five attend the dance classes" means that there are children are anything from 5-16 years old. |

The original sentence is 'Children as young as 5 can be seen during the day trying to sleep on the trains which rotate around the metro's circle line' Unfortunately it is not the work of a native english speaker, as we would not normally say 'rotate around the metro's circle line' My attempted translation is... "На колцевой линии Московской Метрополитены возможно днём увидеть детей от 5 лет, старающиеся спать в вагонах." |

"от 5 лет" seems too formal here. На кольцевой линии Московского Метрополитена можно видеть даже пятилетних детей, пытающихся спать в вагонах. ? |
