I property with character. An English expression which is a bit
difficult for me to explain. Standard new-built houses are functional, but have little in the way of interesting features or historical details ("character"). Older houses often have interesting features which add to the interest and charm of a building.
For example, visible wooden ceiling beams, large open fireplaces, attractive exposed brickwork, elaborate ceiling moldings and such. Character doesn't mean an old property and certainly doesn't mean a run-down property. However, it is difficult to find in new houses.
