Subject: горюну и подростет
Пожалуйста, помогите перевести.

What does the word "горюну" and "подростет" mean in English.
Please respond in English since I do not speak Russian.

Слово встречается в следующем контексте:
Приказчик избу Григорьеву отдал какому-то горюну и велел за это сиротку кормить, пока не подростет.

The salesman has given the log hut to Grigoriev any горюну and ordered from this to feed the orphan, until not подростет.

Заранее спасибо

горюн - poor devil/wretch/dirt-poor fellow
But there are mistakes in this translation. Here is my version:

The custodian /caretaker has given the Grigoriev’s log hut to some poor devil, and for that he ordered him to feed the orphan until she/he is grown-up.

It seems like this person suffered a big loss as a result of fire ("goryun" is a dialect for "pogorelets" - fire victim);
The second word should be "podrAstyot" - "grows up"

Something like this:

The manager gave the Grigoriev's log cabin to some poor chap and ordered him to feed the orphan until she grows up in return.

This is a fairy tale by Bazhov.

So mahavishnu is probably right.

My version:

The clerk/foreman gave Grigory's house over to someone who had lost his own place in a fire, and ordered him, in return, to feed the little orphan until she grows up.
