Помогите, пожалуйста, разобраться с выделенным предложением. Совсем запуталась и не пойму, кто serenaded.

Контекст (не понимаю только выделенное предложение):

Utopia is, literally, a non-place, meaning that utopias at their best are not prescriptions but imaginative placeholders for human desires. At its worst, cyber-utopianism has been a neo-liberal sublimation of 1960s communalism, reflecting the journey from the hippy Stewart Brand and the Whole Earth Catalog to Wired magazine. The whole earth, according to this dispensation, is a ‘global, massively interconnected system of technology vibrating around us’, as executive editor of Wired, Kevin Kelly, put it. This conception, which he calls ‘the technium’, saw Kelly, Brand and their confederates serenaded by venture capital and lauded at Davos. But for Kelly, it had a more mystical significance. The technium was ‘actually a divine phenomenon that is a reflection of God’, he told Christianity Today in doxological tones. More circumspect in his book, he ventured that ‘if there is a God, the arc of the technium is aimed right at him’. This literally assigned a holy significance to the global triumph of Silicon Valley.

У меня получается какая-то ерунда:

В рамках этой системы, которую он называет «техниумом», венчурные капиталы поют серенады Келли, Бранду и их сподвижникам, и их превозносят в Давосе.

Отсечь лишние дополнения и все здесь нормально. Сложно, но нормально.

За свою концепцию, которую автор называет "Техниум", Келли, Бранд и их единомышленники удостоились похвалы венчурных предпринимателей  и признания на Всемирном экономическом форуме в Давосе.

Интересно. И как вы объясните? Я бы понял еще, если бы было "we saw", но "concept...saw"?

Here 'serenaded by venture capital' is a disapproving way of saying that venture capitalists attempted to (befriend/make overtures towards) Kelly, Brand etc -- for cynical purposes and/or for self-gain.

Here 'saw' just means 'resulted in'. It's standard English and often just means 'we saw x' or 'x happened'.

Other examples:

* 'The 1960s saw the arrival of the Beatles, hippies and widespread drug abuse', ie when the 1960s arrived, we witnessed ......

* 'Yesterday saw me fall off a ladder and end up in hospital' = Yesterday I fell off a ladder and ended up in hospital.
