I think it's a feigned shot at the goal designed to confuse the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper moves to one side to block what he thinks is a shot at the goal, and the attacker then shoots through the space that's opened up next to the goalkeeper. Something like that, anyway. Very ungentlemanly if you ask me. Definitely "not cricket".... |

Гол канадцев, который не сразу был засчитан, спровоцировал на площадке прямо-таки боксёрский поединок между игроками. I've just looked at this on YouTube. Incredible! Just like Gloucester city centre on a Friday/Saturday night! For some reason that reminded me of Muhammed Ali. He was famous for talking to and ridiculing his opponents (such as Joe Frazier) during bouts with comments such as "Come on, you're not hitting me, try harder!" and "Come on Joe, you're just a big girl!" to tire them out. He was also famous for his leg shuffle and for pretending to be badly hurt when he wasn't -- all psychological tricks, which worked. Here are a few examples: |
