These studies utilising tendinopathy as a model system reveal for the first time the ability of a single microRNA (miR-29) to cross regulate inflammatory cytokine effector function and extracellular matrix regulation in the complex early biological processes leading to tissue repair.

We herein provide new evidence for a role of IL-33 in the initial steps that lead to the important clinical entity of tendinopathy.
