Subject: Из выписки протокола заседания ученого совета gen. Здравствуйте всем.Оригинал: слушали декана с характеристикой и ходатайством о рекомендации на научную работу и дальнейшее постдипломное образование студента... В этом, собственно, и вопрос Моя попытка: Dean representing the reference for the student and requesting this student to be recommended for scientific research work and further postgraduate education Понимаю, что не очень. You can't normally just put 'Heard: ......'; you have to say who did the hearing, so will need to rewrite it slightly. So, assuming that 'слушали' refers to the ученый совет, I would put: 'The (ученый совет) (heard from/was addressed by) (the Dean*/a dean**), who provided a character reference for the student and requested that (he/she) be recommended for ...... [rest as per your version]'. * if the dean's already been mentioned or it's obvious which dean is being referred to. |

'scientific research work': Strictly speaking it says 'научную работу' -- but I'm assuming you know that this is what is meant here.... The 'наука'/'науки' in Russian terms such as 'доктор ......-ских наук' is often just ignored in English, which will simply say eg 'Doctor of ......-y' -- but I assume you're aware of this. |
