Subject: "внести представление" (о прокуроре) gen.

Внести представление в ОВД об устранении обстоятельств, способствоваших преступлению.

Можно ли упростить и сказать, что прокурор СООБЩИЛ в ОВД о том, что обстоятельства устранены?

Нет. Потому что прокурор потребовал устранить обстоятельства.

Сама формулировка в русском языке мудреная, так сказать. Ну что за "Внес представление"... )))

*Ну что за "Внес представление"... )))* - См. Википедия, Прокурорский надзор. У них там своя атмосфера...
ОВД - территориальное подразделение МВД. Что-то вроде precinct.

Если использовать demand, то грамматическая структура, на которой настаивают носители языка, такая:

...demanded that [the local Police Department] eliminate...

to demand that something [should] be done

to demand that somebody [should] do smth

я читал, что одним из больших различий британского и американского варианта английского языка является использование и, соответственно, неиспользование слова that (помимо других различий).

то есть варианты
..demanded that [the local Police Department] eliminate...
to demand that something [should] be done
to demand that somebody [should] do smth
уверенно относятся к британскому варианту.

А варианты
..demanded [the local Police Department] eliminate...
to demand something [should] be done
to demand somebody [should] do smth
можно уверенно отнести к американскому варианту.

Вопрос к господину Стефенсону: «Так ли это? Насколько это утверждение верно?»
Заранее спасибо за объяснение.

tumanov: I don't know, because I haven't seen enough sentences of this type in US English. The first version certainly sounds more 'British' than the second, but I don't know which (if any) the Americans prefer.

However, I've just googled the NY Times website and there are lots of examples of them using 'demanded that', but I don't know whether this is the norm. Note that 'that' and other common words are often omitted from newspaper headlines in both countries, though.

Sorry I can't help you further. A US linguist may be able to give you a clearer answer.

прокурор - лучше не надо "procurator"
не стоит пилата всуе поминать

вариантов много, например:
the prosecutor (= prosecutor general's office) has instructed...to...

has issued a binding instruction.../ requiring that...
it is therefore incumbent on... / ...is now required / duty bound to...

и, естественно, "устранение обстоятельств" - не eliminate
