Subject: at lunch literally was mean mugging the greasy option gen. Контекст: отзыв благодарной читательницы автору книги о похудении.Yesterday I completed my 10 days! Down 12 lbs. and lost 12 inches and feeling great! Went to work with smoothie in hand. Had a salad for lunch and have a new appreciation for eating healthy; at lunch literally was mean mugging the greasy option, LOL! Как перевести "at lunch literally was mean mugging the greasy option"? |
скорчила презрительную морду в сторону жирных блюд? |
нужно обратить внимание на сленговое выражение 'mean mug(ging)' потом подумать, почему LOL, если literally. и привыкайте щедро делиться своими идеями, прежде чем вопросы задавать. |
Спасибо, под вечер уже туго соображаю, не додумалась, что mean mug это устойчивое выражение. |
Вы его поменьше слушайте про мин маг. (I) was mean - поступила грубо, неблагородно mugging the greasy option - бросив презрительный взгляд с сторону жирных блюд |
Спасибо большое за помощь!) |
ну, тебе с Брайтона виднее :)) |
на literally нужно точно обратить внимание (в современном культурологическом контексте, лол) http://litreactor.com/columns/10-words-you-literally-didnt-know-you-were-getting-wrong |
на обед она съела свой cалат, при этом буквально уничтожив взглядом всю жырную пищу... рассказывать эти все худеющие могут что угодно о пользе здоровой пищи. а жратеньки им все равно охота... оттого и LOL |

Yes, others have said it all. 'to mean mug (s.o.)' = mainly US slang for 'to give (s.o.) a contemptuous look' -- either because you hate them, or are jealous of them, or both. Also 'literally' is very much over-used in English, as overdoze says. It's often (mis)used by people who clearly aren't speaking literally, but figuratively. In cases like this it's used simply to emphasise what's being said. Examples: Is буквально misused in the same way? |

'At lunch literally was' = shorthand for 'At lunch I literally was'. |
'At lunch [it] literally was', methinks |
ok, could be "I" |
It is exactly the same in Russian. Я буквально потерял дар речи. |
