Subject: криминальная хроника gen.
в одном из районов на окраине города совершено нападение на таксиста. Двое пассажиров во время движения автомобиля нанесли водителю несколько ранений ножом. Потеряв управление, машина съехала в кювет, что позволило водителю выбежать на дорогу и обратиться за помощью. С помощью оказавшихся рядом очевидцев происшествия один из нападавших был задер-жан и передан полиции.

a taxi driver was attacked in one of city suburb districts. Two passengers wounded the driver with knife when a car was running. Having lost the control the car collided into the road ditch which made it possible for the driver to run out to the road and ask for help. One of attackers was detained and handed over to the police with help of witnesses who happened to be nearby.

A taxi driver was attacked in one of the suburbs of the city. Two passengers stabbed and wounded the driver in a moving car. After spinning out of control the car ended up in a ditch, thus allowing the driver to run out to the road and cry for help. Thanks to the eyewitnesses (passerby?) that happened to be nearby one of the attackers was detained on the spot and then handed over to the police

"apprehend" comes first (catch), then you detain the guy (lock him up)
