Subject: English Grammar (1 предложение) gen. *Повествование все в прошлом*By this time he must have been about 50, but he didn't look his age. She wanted to find out the truth, but he tried to persuade her that she had mistaken him for someone else. Подскажите, пожалуйста, *она приняла его за кого - то другого* - это предпрошедший факт или все же лучше сказать she mistook him for someone else? |

imho "she had mistaken him for someone else" +1 потомушто оно полностью случилось до того как "he tried to persuade her" но я неучъ :) |

| я знаю что говорю! ваш контекст - учеба? так вот преподаваемый езыг кое в чем отличается от практического; в области времен в том числе. так что если придут люди, которые знают как и что преподается, и начнут советовать - верить надо скорее им, а не мне ;) |

In both cases (the spoken language and that of textbooks) you can either empasize the priority of one action and say "had (mis)taken" or just stress the very fact of a mistake by using the past simple form, since it's aready clear from the previous context that this action preceded the other. The only problem is what this particular teacher of yours "likes" and what is "correct" from his/her point of view... |

Aaahhh, великий, могучий.... И так и так можно, главное - понимать смысл. Когда он говорил, тогда и ошиблась - he tried to .... she mistook him for someone else- он сказал ей, что она ошибается Когда говорил, то она уже успела ошибиться -he tried to tell... She had mistaken him - он ее убеждал, что она ошиблась. |

тогда вместо she mistook him я бы сказал he tried to to persuade her that she WAS mistakING him for someone else |
