| не знаю, до чего там дообсуждались в лингве, но у меня эта конструкция прочно в касте "avoided by careful writers", короче - лучше не надо)) |

Зависит от контекста. We allow smoking only in restricted areas. |

I prefer to use "make it possible to determine" "allow/ enable the determination of..." is also possible "allow us to determine" is okay, but awkward stylistically "allow determining" and "allow to determine" are not grammatically correct. (allow + Verb-ing is possible in contexts like the one noted by AMOR 69) |

Товарищи дорогие, граммар буки будем смотреть, прежде чем на форуме писать, или как? Читайте Мерфи, там все написано (надо бы списаться с ним, блин, пусть мне мои 3% платит, что я, зазря что ли в него всех посылаю???) allow doing smth but allow smb to do smth... Unit 55. |
