Мне думается, он говорит: "If you're using the weak link in lat exercises, your biceps is gonna give way". Нужна Ваша помощь. Большое спасибо! |
We're doing Э-Э-Э pullovers first it's isolating the lats without ____ biceps involvement. Потом, наверно, THEY - пропущенный кусок (огрех) при монтаже: ... are usually the weak link in lat excercises... |
youR biceps is gonna give way |
We're doing the pullovers first, because it's isolating the lats without biceps involvement, are usually the weak link in the lat exercises ...biceps gonna give way. So we are just trying to work the lats... |
...without having (any) biceps involvement... |
Спасибо. AVPro, посмотрите, пожалуйста ещё один малюсенький отрывок. Я уже миллион раз его прослушал - to no avail. Настолько привыкают уши к одному и тому же, что другие варианты не показываются. 01:02 - 01:04 "I forgot?..." |
или I thought I thought you couldn't come (or count) past ten ? |
На слух и по губам forgot |
Ten... I forgot to tell, you can pass ten...eleven... |
Это шутка у него такая: Ах, я забыл, ты же только до 10 считать умеешь. |
Huge thanks! This one too is over my head... 07:30 - 07:37 "If you got reps/rest?, you can just do it next hour?" |

Nice Mr. Yates says: "We're doing the pullovers first, because it's isolating the lats without biceps involvement. Usually the weak link in a lat exercise is the biceps is gonna give way. So we're just gonna work the ,lats without having any biceps involvement. If we had the pullover machine, that's ideal, because that's full range all the way round, whereas a dumbell is only half-range. But we'll work with what we got; that's what we got today, so we'll use dumbells. Good.. Good.... Good.... From there man, yeah? Good. Ten....I forgot you couldn;t count past ten. That's eleven." |
...you can just do it from there to start with, you know. |

07.30 + Nice Mr Yates says: "I'll just do the initial one from the floor. I'm just going here, so if you got reps,, you can just to do it from there to 12. Keep your head up, keep your back flat,. You never wanna lift with your back rounded like that; you're putting your back in a very vulnerable position" |
HarryWharton&Co, your help is highly appreciated. Merci. The "pullover machine" part was really hard, as I was getting "Try to pull over the machine outside here", but now this doubt has entirely been dispersed. I got two more I've been struggling with. 07:47 - 07:53 08:11 - 08:20 |
Really reminds me of that cool video of yours about the Scots in the elevator! |
Hi, Harry. This time you MUST be joking. Are you sure about 7:36 to 7:37 (...to 12...)? |
tug, tug higher? Our initial lift from the floor is more .... than glutes. |

Tamerlane. Glad you liked the vid. Yates is a northerner, which could be making things a bit trickier for you. That said, if you've understood the rest. I take my hat of to you! 07.47+ Nice Mr Yates says: "The initial lift from the floor is more quads and glutes, that's why after you've lifted it from the floor you're going to mid-shin; so we're just keeping it on the back. Keeping the tension on the back." 08.11+ |
"is more quads than glutes!" I guess I got it now. This accent is so tough to get, with all that noise in the gym. |
Harry, thank you very much! Is there any way to reach you? I've got something to offer you. I've got my email on my page. |

AVPRo: yeah, it's a murky bit, but I think I hear Mr. Yates correctly. It's logical at least. 12 reps - pretty standard rep number for the iron-pumpin' community. What d'you think he says? |

Tamerlane. Thanks. I'll be in touch over the next few days. Can't imagine what you mean , and certainly don't want anything for trying to help. Cheers! |
To Harry: see my post at 16:47. "to start with" - it is also logical - its a Warmup set |
apostrophe missing in my previuos post "it's a Warmup set " |
AVPRo, I really appreciate your taking the time to go through this stuff. Some of the parts of this video are so tough to digest. In that particular case, he really DOES say "12". I've listened to it so many times that after being presented with something accurate I find it falling so neatly into place. Thanks again. |
Harry, when you get a chance just send me an email. TY. |

AVRro: Well, just listened to the part in question another 3 times. I still hear "you can just do it from there to 12". |
Interesting. Seems I will have to consult my English friends. I'll be back:) but not today... |
As I said it was interesting to discuss it, and even more interesting to me how it was possible that, unlike others, we (first me, then Harry) as one, got the phrase at 01:34 (“ I forgot you couldn't count past ten”), where I gave it in Russian (“я забыл, ты же только до 10 считать умеешь”), but another phrase (at 7:36) was so difficult for you. So, below are relevant parts of my letter to a former boss of mine (an Englishman) and his reply (we use a special way of starting letters to each other, but never mind:). Disclaimer: I am not a bodybuilder :) ” --------The reply:----------- The context for this is that he does it from the floor, but if you have the racks......... As you can see I did not mention our variants to him. Unlike my former boss, I hope, Tamerlane, that you transcribed the video for yourself, not for a very big (in every sense) client!:) And I wish you good luck in “earbuilding”. Yours, and with all respect, AVPro |
AVPro, I sincerely appreciate your taking the time to get to the heart of the matter. I just wish I could contract some of this work to some Englishman for him to transcribe it and for me to translate it afterwards. |

AVPro. Many thanks! English your former boss may be, but then so am I. As to who hears better, well, who can say? Personally, I think Tamerlane made a cracking effort, bearing in mind the accent and background noise... |
Tamerlane, well, I think it will be difficult to make an offer they cannot refuse to the men I know, but you could cooperate with locals good in these things. Maybe you should find one to check your work after you complete it. Harry, for me it was not a matter of who hears better. It was a matter of "believing my ears". |
