Assisting air/airplane crash victims' families Assisting the families of passengers killed/involved in aviation disasters Assisting the families of victims of aviation disasters/aviation disaster victims ["offering", to my mind, is a bit weak in this context] |
Providing assistance to families of aviation disaster victims [perhaps these are just stylistic preferences, but 'assisting' seems a bit weak to me. to my ear, you "assist someone to a seat in a movie theater" but you "provide/offer assistance" in a more serious situation. but, as i said, these are personal preferences] |
Такое вот предложение: Air company representative for compensations to the air crush victims' family members. |

Kath, you may be right. It's mainly a matter of register. "provide/render assistance" is just a register notch up from "assist". In plain English, of course, we'd just say "help". Anything with a French root, like "assist" or "aid" is somehow regarded as more diginfied than humdrum Anglo-Saxon "help". Nice to think, however, that "help" carries the day in real emergencies - difficult to imagine the survivors of an air crash into the Indian Ocean bobbing around in the sea shouting "Provide assistance!". Dimash: love your "air crush victims' family members" - sounds like an organization of kids whose parents travel to work on the Moscow metro.... |

... responsible for disaster victim assistance [and support] |
to HarryWharton&Co: Does it really sound non-English? What would you propose? Will appreciate your advice. |

Dimash No, really, your version is fine. It's just that you wrote "air CRUSH" (давка). Okay, an understandable typing error - but I just couldn't help wondering what "air crush victims' family members" might be... Regards |
Harry, Ups, sorry... That is an inexcusable negligence ((( Of course, this is "air crash"... Thanks! |
Oops again ))))) |
