Note-we do this a little differently we slide on brass plate and use cam follower bearings for guideing/capture. From the picture they might be able to utilize this method if we cannot find compound bearings with enough load capacity. Really need the data on the existing bearings (mfgr. & model) to determine. If there is room under the cradle for some 1/2-3/8 brass plates to slide on, then perhaps use the existing bearings to guide and capture the cradle. That would keep the bearing from being loaded by the downward force of the weight of the cradle and then the only loading the bearings would see is the upward force generated by the string pull. If the existing bearing are too light to deal with this condition the they could be replaced with some more robust cam followers
