Грейс под огнем, по-моему, он у нас назывался. А, может, я уже забыл... |
Нет, у нас назывался ИМЕННО Грейс в огне. Точно помню. |

Let me explain myself. I'm not interested in the soap opera name translation. The question is about the idiom "grace under fire". |
Has the name of the soap opera become an idiom? if yes, then why do you suppose that there should be a russian equivalent of it? Ok then.. мать-одиночка... бывшая алкоголичка.. хм.. или всё вместе..:) или забавная мать-одиночка возвращающаяся к жизни после.. да нет имхо вряд ли название не самого известного сериала (или что-то с ним связанное) могло стать идиомой в русском языке.. |
2 Lina Kolin: charming manner you have, dear lady. On the subject: why not look up "under fire" in Multitran, since it seems to be irrelevant whether it's Grace, Colin or Вася who's under fire! |

To be under fire means to be in derision. I havent watched the stuff, though, maybe this Grace is simply "under fire", for ex, under fire of household problems, kids and all, and maybe she's being jeered at there.. |
У нас он действитель назывался Грейс в огне. Но если нужна именно идиома, аллюзия, которая будет узнана именно русскоговорящим человек, то про мать-одиночку (не алкоголичку:))), в итоге справляющуюся со всеми трудностями жизни у нас есть "Москва слезам не верит" (фильмы довольно далеки друг от друга, но это первое, что пришло в голову и довольно узнаваемо) |

It's more likely that the English /American idiom has became a name for the soap opera. I'm looking for the Russian equivalent for the English /American idiom "grace under fire". |

Well, if you're "looking for the Russian equivalent for the English /American idiom "grace under fire", please kindly explain what the heck it means in English. |
2Lina: Вы уже уловили, что Грейс - это имя? |
Мужество под огнем [неприятеля] |

"Мужество под огнем [неприятеля]" seems to be appropriate. Thanks. |

2 Little Mo: Seems that your UK-based Oil-and-gas experience does not help in finding equivalent for an American idiom. May be in this case it's better not to judge other's manners? |
Lina Kolin: А, may be, не наезжать на наиболее достойных и helpful форумчан, а постараться сформулировать свой вопрос так, чтобы все поняли. А то получается, что все дураки, а Вы одна умная. :-) |
Ириша, респект!)) |

Irisha: Little Mo's comment was neither relevant nor helpful which I've pointed out in my comment addressed to Little Mo. А Вы тут в качестве защитника наиболее достойных и helpful форумчан выступили, или Вам есть, что сказать по предмету "grace in fire"? |
Я и в качестве защитника, и сказать есть что, но... не скажу. Вот такая я сегодня сво. :-) |
Позвольте считать данную ветку закрытой Вступать в дебаты с Lina Kolin я считаю непродуктивным времяпровождением. Irisha и Серёга: спасибо :)) |
