ИМХО: мысли по поводу видео
Among the personal freedoms the Americans so very much value are not only the freedom of speech, the freedom to assemble and the freedom to petition the government, etc. so readily cited by Mr. Gibbs as quintessential American values but also the freedom to keep and bear arms and this last one judging from the incident in which an American congresswoman hosting a public event was so effectively silenced seems to have backfired at least on one of the former ones, i.e. the freedom of speech. In my humble opinion, in this particular case we are seeing a conflict of freedom, no more, no less.

And yet in this video we hear Mr. Gibbs saying “There’s nothing in the values of our country, there’s nothing on the many laws on our books that would provide for somebody to impugn and impede on the very freedoms that you began with (i.e., a reference to the earlier cited freedoms of speech, of assembly and to petition – my comment) by exercising the actions that that individual took on that day. That is not America.” This may not be America but in my view the balance of American freedoms seems to be too delicate to maintain. If owning a weapon in the US was not so easy the victims' lives in this incident (and the freedom of speech for that matter) could have been spared.
