Subject: снятие с производства или прекращение производства Товарищи, переводчики,Поскажите, как более точно передать на английском "снятие с производства или прекращение производства" (в данном случае серии уровнемеров). Я в Lingvo и Multitran заглянула (phase out, lay- off), но мне кажется как-то по - другому называют. |

discontinuation You could also use "phase-out"; that would connote gradual discontinuation. |

exit the product? :-) u can exit an investment product (or retain it, alternatively), but same cannot be said with relation to a manufactured product, which the context clearly states. it would not sound english. withdraw a product is similar to recall a product, and is definitely not what the poster wanted. ms' suggestion, product is discontinued, is very good. however, and i m sure he would agree with me, out of production, as in "this model is out of production," would say it best. |
| Yep, agree with narc. This model is out of production sounds great. I put discontinuation, since the original posting, I though, was asking for a noun. However, if we are to use "discontinue," I would say, "The product has been discontinued." |
