Subject: снятие с производства или прекращение производства
Товарищи, переводчики,

Поскажите, как более точно передать на английском "снятие с производства или прекращение производства" (в данном случае серии уровнемеров). Я в Lingvo и Multitran заглянула (phase out, lay- off), но мне кажется как-то по - другому называют.
Может, cancellation или discontinuation??? Забыла...

Вроде бы как нашла в таком контексте:
www.iamawdl98.org/2005-C130/C130Fa22TerminationImpacts.htm

Termination of C-130J production will leave the Air Force 114 aircraft short (-76%) of the required 150 aircraft.

Many thanks.

discontinuation

You could also use "phase-out"; that would connote gradual discontinuation.

exit the product? :-) u can exit an investment product (or retain it, alternatively), but same cannot be said with relation to a manufactured product, which the context clearly states. it would not sound english. withdraw a product is similar to recall a product, and is definitely not what the poster wanted.
ms' suggestion, product is discontinued, is very good. however, and i m sure he would agree with me, out of production, as in "this model is out of production," would say it best.

Yep, agree with narc. This model is out of production sounds great. I put discontinuation, since the original posting, I though, was asking for a noun. However, if we are to use "discontinue," I would say, "The product has been discontinued."
