many of these applications were written 15 to 30 years ago. Linked to these applications can be legacy infrastructure—in many instances mainframes—and the combination is expensive. Many organizations have “looked elsewhere” to save cost by consolidating hardware on less-critical applications. But that has not impacted the high cost of legacy application maintenance.
