shut up shop = (here) stop investing to reverse the credit market = to make sure banks start giving out loans again new debt = the stimulus package, the bailout money... this is all done by basically printing more money, thereby increasing national debt to unprecedented heights... :( so what the sentence basically means is... investors who might be investing after the stimulum package became available, have now stopped doing so because it is not clear how much moeney they have to "play with" |
