sorry my russian leaves much to be desired IMHO no one's dashing to baggage or a wailing child tho.. your quote looks like a snapshot of the after-security sector of an airport, i.e. things a casual onlooker might see there - passengers dashing to their gates (via conveyors), wailing children, duty-free shops, baggage, half-lit long corridors, etc |

Faith*: The situation is clear, the syntax of the sentence is what discombobulates me. If the BOARDING GATES TRAILING BELTS (aren't they ROLLING belts, BTW?) is what you said, what part of the sentence would you link "baggage and the occasional wailing child"? Could you rephrase it? |

Во-первых, как уже было сказано, это следует из грамматики, во- вторых, данные системы никогда не назывались "trailing belts". Вот их названия из Википедии: moving walkway, moving sidewalk (in the US), moving pavement (elsewhere), autopedescalator, walkalator, travelator, autowalk, horizontal escalator, slidewalk or moveator |

erm - DAKK - as you say there is no one name for these belts - as i mentioned they're also called conveyors. Also all these names could refer to luggage conveyors as well as walking conveoyrs - you wouldn't know unless you put 'luggage' or 'people' before 'trailing belt'. At the end of the day, both luggage and people conveyors are the same type of thing - a moving belt. Delta: the syntax isn't obvious, I agree, however luggage belts aren't often to be seen in the after-security (DEPARTURES) sector, they are more common in the after-immigration (ARRIVALS) sector. The fact that passengers are dashing FROM security TO gates suggests that we're talking about departures. Although in a very tiny airport somewhere in guatemala these sectors may not be clearly demarcated... in this case it seems we're talking about a large airport with hordes of people. As for baggage and children these could be found anywhere :) |

Из моего недавнего опыта при проверке снимают ботинки и ремни вытаскивают из брюк Я думаю, что тут народ выходит из обезъяника босой, со сваливающимися штанами и разыскивает/выслеживает/выискивает (в этих поддонах) свои ремни (брючные), чемоданы и детей. imho ++ |
