Где-то в тестах попадалось предложение: If the weather is bad the lesson is deferred to another day. Why not? |
Амеры помимо прочего говорят to switch a class (это lesson по-ихнему) to...Может, и еще как говорят. |
defer verb [T] -rr- to delay something until a later time; to postpone: (from Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary) |
just go Google |
class has been rescheduled. |
talgat, what about postponed? Is it OK? |
rudut, yes, it is , it is just rescheduled is (quote-unquote) more ok. plus, perenesli could mean moving back or forward in russian, i dont think i m wrong here, rnt i?. so, that is why rescheduled is better here, in my opinion. tal' |
Ja, ja, einverstanden, "reschedule" ist auch gut. Slava :-) |
Yep. "Reschedule a class" is probably the best. But it's also okay to say "to postpone a class", "to move a class back"... "Defer a class" sounds odd and usually is not used. |
Thanks a lot! I like "reschedule/postpone/put off". |
slavster, i didnt know u spoke vlaams. its neat to know that :-) |
Thanks :-) I don't have a lot of practice with German though. But what is "vlaams" anyway? :-) |
vlaams is a close cousin of dutch spoken in flandres. dutch, frisian and vlaams are officially refered to as niederlandisch. i thought that is what u were speaking. i guess it is extremely close to german for me to have confused the two. tal |
Thanks for the info. I thought vlaams is a slang term for "German" :-)) |
