is this really a Ph.D. in Economics
or is this a Master of Economics?

Ph.D in Economics is ok too :) sometimes they like to put more emphasis on the Ph.D. part of it so they put it first in the phrase :)

Really, what I was checking is that I had the equivalent right and that it isn't just a Master's Degree.

Candidate Degree is ROUGHLY equivalent to Ph.D

right, roughly which is why i was checking that it isnt closer to a Masters.
I always get confused which is which with the equivalents.

well, what you should know is that any kandidat nauk would prefer to be called Ph.D, not MS (MA) :-)

In fact, usually it somewhere in between Master and PhD. :)
definetely higher than Master, though
