The rig must have the capability to deliver sufficient power to generate continuous torque from the Top Drive of 45,000 ft-lbs at 200 rpm while circulating 1,250 gem at 7,500 psi and backreaming at a rate of 1 stand per minute with 500,000 lbs hook load, plus ancillary power for all other services. Quantity of diesel engined prime movers sufficient to power the above calculated rig requirements with excess of a minimum of 20% redundancy factor built in. The engines should incorporate all available modern technology to minimise atmostpheric emissions. The Prime Movers should be in a modular configuration to allow the system to be expanded or reduced as required.
