Subject: time excess - страхование Здравствуйте! Deductible/Time excess - 14 days, however minimum to EUR 70 000 / each and every loss.

Deductible - франшиза (basically предварительный взнос) - you have to pay it before the insurance kicks in. Unless you pay it they are not going to cover anything. As usually insurance with high deductible has low premium ( that's how much you are buying insurance policy for). So you have a choice of either paying a lot before they cover expenses but it's cheap OR paying a little (may be nothing) but it's expensive policy. Regarding time excess I think it's same as deductible but I am not sure. |
time excess is the same as deductible |

To: Yulja Could you provide your source material please? Because as far as I know deductible is always paid by the insured side. |

I think I am getting confused here and we are talking about different issues. You said that deductible is "limit of coverage" which I don't agree with. It's always prepayment made by insured. Accordingly if it's higher than coverage (1000$ and coverage 900$) then of course they don't pay anything because everything is paid already. But why in the world would you need insurance if your deductible is going to be higher than coverage? Doesn't make any sense. May be Tumanov can help if he is still there. |
Luggage/Baggage/Flight Delay This feature comes along with a "Time" excess, meaning that the traveler insurance companies only compensate when the delay exceeds a certain time frame. The limit for loss of luggage/baggage/flight varies, usually with a cap for individual items. |
Deductible: (Also known as Excess in UK, NZ, AU) This is the amount that the insured must pay before the vacation insurance starts paying for your claim....

O'k, based on your example and from my personal experience (and I had quiet a few policies in different areas): 1. Deductible - 1000$, damages 999$. I have to pay 999$ (not if I wish but it's my responsibility). In this case it's not important how high the coverage is - could be any amount I still have to pay 999$. 2. Deductible 1000$, damages 1001$. I have to pay 1000$, then they pay 1$ if coverage is higher than 1000$. Or they pay nothing if it's less than 1000$. What I am saying is that deductible doesn't change - let's say each visit to doctor I pay there 15$ deductible and then insurance picks up whatever else is left of the charged amount. If 100$bill - I pay 15, they 85: if 200 - I pay same 15, they 185 and so on up to the limit of coverage. So in case if this limit is 500$ and the bill is 600$ I still pay my 15$, they pay 500$ and the rest - 85$ would be my problem and responsibility because it's not covered by this particular policy. But what is the english term for "перестрахованиe"? I don't think I ever heard about it. |
