Active development of technology and introduction of the CO2 tax resulted in a substantial reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases from the Nor wegian continental shelf. With regard to discharges to sea, the authorities and the industr y have established a joint objective of zero environmentally hazardous discharges, and a number of measures are now being implemented
to minimise such discharges.
