it's an expression meaning that you will not get what you want. Literally: like a board flying over Paris.

thanks so much indeed. Sounds weird, though! Not getting what you want just because it's not really feasible or for some other reason like being turned down or whatever?
Is 'board' a kind of offensive term?
It's going to take me an awful lot to get to understand Russian properly!
