Subject: реалия Помогите, пожалуйста, перевести "реалия - это предмет, вещь, материально существующая или существовавшая."an object which materially exists or existed - правильно? или нужно что-то вроде which exists or existed in a material form? и еще как будет Краткая литературная энциклопедия - Brief Literally Encyclopaedia? Заранее спасибо! |
concise encyclopedia of literature |
не надо materially - [physically] exists |

Reality is an object or thing that either is or was tangible. |
realiA и realiTY почувствуйте разницу |
+ real - existing or occurring in the physical world; not imaginary, fictitious, or theoretical; actual

lesdn, this is a trick question for d. Just wanted to see if he is going to try to use realiA again:-)) |
I understood it :) "realia" is a false friend and the meaning depends on context. I think d. would use (as a variant) close to reality/close(more) to the point/up to date... etc ;)))) |

I thought I saw a smily face!:-)) I agree! |
"Realia," a word invented in the 1930s, is still mostly used in the classroom by teachers, especially foreign language teachers, and in the library by cataloguers (realia in libraries can consist of things as bizarre as an author's hair and teeth donated posthumously), but it's seeping out. You might, for example, hear of someone putting "realia" — objects that represent present-day life — in a time capsule. "Realia" is also sometimes used philosophically to distinguish real things from the theories about them. |
