The SRS system is continually monitored by the control unit. A control unit is mounted on a bracked above the engine cover which detects deceleration. The control unit also contains a stand by power unit which can supply the system with power for a short time, should the normal supply be broken. If the control unit detects a sufficiently violent deceleration (collision), the system is activated. The gas generator triggers and fills the bag with a non-toxic gas within a few hundredths of a second. During a collisionm after the bag has been filled, gas flows out through two holes in the weave. These holes are large enough to let the airbag collapse slowly, gently catching the driver. In the event of a problem in the SRS system, a telltale shows on the graphic display in the instrument cluster. This telltale together with other telltales in the cluster, also light up when the engine is started. The telltale should go out after approximately 10 seconds when the starting key has been turned to drive position. If the problem develops in the system, the INFO telltale with come on together with the SRS telltale. CAUTION! The vehicle should be taken to an authorized Volvo Truck dealer immediately if the SRS telltale stays on or lights up when the vehicle is being driven. Это вся инструкция.
