Alky, а для чего ещё бывает охлаждение? из нефтехимического словаря: quenching - резкое охлаждение, квенчинг quench tray- квенчинг-тарелка quench system - система резкого охлаждения |

В квенчинг-секции (для) слоя №1 в колонне синтеза аммиака. Alky, переводчик не должен добавлять то, что в исходном тексте отсутствует для предотвращения повышения температуры (слоя) сверх установленного значения. |

Верно, не должен. Поэтому - "quench - охлаждение". Не думаю, что у слоя №1 (в данном случае) есть некая "квенчинг-секция"... |

quench все равно надо будет отличать от cooling, оно там стопудов рядом есть; давно было, но насколько мне помнится, quench'ем как раз звалось охлаждение слоя |

Two separate product streams come out of the quenching tower. One product stream is water and a mixture of heavier hydrocarbons commonly referred to as pyrolysis gasoline. The water is cleaned and recycled back into the quench tower. The pyrolysis gasoline is sent to a separation unit that extracts the petrochemical aromatics (benzene, toluene and xylenes) for use in making plastics and other chemicals. The remaining liquid hydrocarbon mixture is used to blend in automotive fuels or sent to a refinery for further processing. |

quench - это резкое охлаждение в отличие от cooling, если не нравятся заимствования, то "закалка" а так "квенч" вполне нормально |
