Subject: graduee gen. Коллеги!Кто-нибудь встречал в английских текстах слово graduee? Я понимаю, что с французского оно переводится, как выпускница, а в английском оно есть или это мое собственное словотворчество по типу employee?)))) Не дает мне это покоя.))))) Заранее спасибо за ваши ответы. |

'Graduee' isn't used in English; 'graduate' is used instead. However, note that in the UK a 'graduate' means 'someone who's recently gained a university degree', whereas in the US it can also mean 'someone who's recently left high school' (UK=secondary school). In the UK we refer to these as 'school-leavers'. |
If there are a few extra letters in any other word that must be British English. |
e.g. American "elevator" v. British "lift". |

We just like to do things properly, Amor 71. We've been trying to teach our American friends to speak our beloved language properly since the 17th century -- sadly, with little success. ;-) |
