LMAX is a new retail financial trading platform. As a result it has to process many trades with low latency. The system is built on the JVM platform and centers on a Business Logic Processor that can handle 6 million orders per second on a single thread. The Business Logic Processor runs entirely in-memory using event sourcing. The Business Logic Processor is surrounded by Disruptors - a concurrency component that implements a network of queues that operate without needing locks. During the design process the team concluded that recent directions in high-performance concurrency models using queues are fundamentally at odds with modern CPU design.

Я пытаюсь понять, что именно эта компонента "разрывает" (disrupts). По идее, Процессор Бизнес-Логики, упоминаемый в контексте, работает в **одном** потоке, а этот "дисраптор" - в **нескольких** (раз это "concurrency component"). М.б. авторы платформы LMAX (и соотв-но термина "disruptor") имеют в виду, что эта компонента "разрывает поток", "разветвляет выполнение"? м.б. тогда перевести её как "разветвитель"? или "прерыватель" (по-моему есть такое устройство в электротехнике)?

The name "disruptor" was inspired from a couple of sources. One is the the fact that the LMAX team sees this component as something that disrupts current thinking on concurrency. The other is a response to the fact that Java is introducing a phaser, so it's natural to include disruptors too.

Всё равно не понимаю, как лучше перевести!

Why is it called the Disruptor?

Well there are two reasons. Primarily we wanted to disrupt the common assumptions in this space because we think that they are wrong. But, to be honest, we also couldn’t resist the temptation; There was some talk about Phasers in Java at the time when we named it and, for those of you too young to care, Phasers were the Federation weapon and Disruptors the Klingon equivalent in Star Trek.
