The situation in regard to gender balance among the sample composition is similar. It was not intended to achieve a sample representative of the female/male ration of MFI (microfinance institutions) clients because there can be considerable variations between different MFIs. Instead, it was decided to aim for a balanced ratio of 50%-50% in order to record the assessment of female as well as male clients to the same degree and to avoid gender biased results.
