носитель Берди: I'm not quite sure how best to translate рейдеры, рейдерство. I'd have to know more about both the Russian words and English equivalents. (I'm not a specialist in business at all.) But I think the problem is that corporate raiders in the US are nasty folks, but they act more or less in accordance with the law (that is, there are exceptions, but in general, a hostile takeover is legal). In Russia, as I understand it, the methods are not legal. A judge is paid off to rule that you didn't buy your apartment legally, or that your lease can be annulled, etc etc etc. Right? In those cases, I'd think you'd have to make that clear in English: illegal takeovers (of businesses, property, etc.). When they involve force or violence (or threats) -- maybe forced/violent/strongman/gangster illegal takeovers. (Those aren't very good translations, but you get the idea.) When the Russian raiding is legal but nasty -- then hostile takeovers. If they are legal but really, really nasty -- something like extremely aggressive hostile takeovers. That is, I think you need a descriptive translation. |

hostile takeover и наше "рейдерство" - разные вещи. hostile takeover - совершенно законная вещь (хоть и, действительно, для руководства компании неприятная), регулируется гражданским правом. наше "рейдерство" - чаще всего с привкусом уголовки, братков, подкупа нотариусов и дубль-собраний акционеров, т.е. что-то ближе к (illegal) (corporate) raider attacks |

A word of caution: осторожнее с "corporate raiders". типичный corporate raider - Ричард Гир в Pretty Woman. вот он как раз занимался hostile takeovers (вспомните его встречу со стариком-владельцем бизнеса. старик, конечно, рад не был, но и подкупами судей, вась-вась с быками и тырением реестров акционеров Гир, уверяю вас, не занимался :)) corporate raider на западе - нормальный, хоть и несколько above the average aggressive человек. действует "в пределах правового поля". hostile takeover - абсолютно законная (хоть и повышенно-тестостеронная, alpha-male) вещь. |
