Back office environment. A small microfinance institution conducts its client
transactions away from the branch office in a marketplace, a commercial
bank, or a rented schoolroom. Loan officers record the transactions on paper
collection forms or receipts, which they take back to the branch office. There,
the information is recorded on a single computer in a back room.
