Other areas of security include:
-Network Security – Network traffic is usually encrypted using network hardware. Message traffic to external systems is normally encrypted.
-Application Security is normally a function of the host system. However, delegated teller limit control may be implemented within the client system.
-Operating system, database and programs - Normally a part of the operating system security. Alternatively, third party products such as Tivoli, HP OpenView, or CA Unicenter can be used.
-Data Security – Account and customer data can be restricted to a user or user department. The branch network front-end (TCS BαNCS Channel) and the Internet banking Channel, TCS BαNCS Channel - Internet can use the SSL 128-bit security encryption function.
-Maker / checker functionality whereby at least two people are involved before a transaction is committed to the Host database.

Security
The TCS BαNCS Services Security Module supervises data security and user access. The system is parameter-driven and can be configured to suit the individual requirements of a particular installation. Security levels are implemented using a 3-dimensional matrix structure through the definition and maintenance of the following:

 Teller Capability (16 levels)
 Group Capability
 Up to 99 different groups of users definable in the system
 Each group contains up to 20 separate applications
 Each item on the group table has a capability level of 0 to 16
 Each application is addressed via a transaction code
 Transaction capability (16 levels)

In addition, posting restrictions can apply to transaction functions by account, which effectively means that the transaction cannot be performed on the account, regardless of the user access level. Audit facilities ensure that all overrides are reported.
